Incoming Hooks
Incoming hooks allow you to send messages from other apps to Teamwork Chat. The Incoming Hooks API allows you to create messages in Teamwork Chat channels by making a HTTP request to an Incoming Hook Web Hook URL, or by sending an email to an Incoming Hook Email Address.
Incoming hooks will be useful for things like getting notifications, sending out reminders in channels, and keeping everyone up to date. Setting up an incoming hook in Teamwork Chat is easy, so let’s get started!
Prerequisites:
To create an Incoming Hook you must be a Teamwork Chat Administrator. You must have access to the incoming hooks section of Teamwork Chat.
You must create an incoming hook via our web or desktop. You cannot use the mobile app to access this feature.
Once you have access to the Incoming Hooks section, you’re all set. Follow the steps below to set up your Incoming Hook.
Select “Incoming Hooks” from the avatar menu:
Select “New Incoming Hook”:
Adding Incoming Hook details
Enter the details for the Incoming Hook. You’ll need to give it a name and description. The name of the Hook will be what you see when it posts to a channel.
Once the Incoming Hook has been created, you will see a confirmation modal that will display the Web Hook URL and Email Address associated with your newly created Incoming Hook. You can copy these values to the clipboard by clicking the button at the end of the field for each value:
This is what you will need to send data to the channel.
